‘Rowena you have built a fantastic theater ..’ I thought photographing the high stones steps of this spectacular amphitheater. Minack Theatre, Porthcurno Bay, Cornwall, South West England.
Tucked into the rock, I ask myself and I ask you ‘How did you move up and down large blocks of granite and sand bags, how could you carve or sculpt and polish the rocks with an old screwdriver decorating  those celtic signs on stones? ‘
Yes, because this theatre  in  greek roman style  extends behind the cliff overlooking the ocean, and here the view extends from the Porthcurno  bay to the cliffs  of Logan’s Rock.
‘You have chosen a difficult place, a slope above the Atlantic to conceive, design and build, draw and paint the sets of scenes, to furnish and fabricate props, sewing costumes.
How much effort and work, little by little, I see a photo of you,  white hair in the wind, while you’re sitting on a wheelbarrow reading a book.
Are you in your kingdom, Hamlet’s castle, torment of love of Romeo and Juliet, ship in the Storm.
You have realized a dream .that idyllic of a Midsummer Night ..
To your favorite poet, William Shakespeare you have dedicated your theater under the stars’.
Unison conceive a wild and extraordinary nature an immense and impetuous ocean, with the immortal and eternal voices of the greatest writers and poets of all time, has been a great creative act.
‘You did Rowena, good, very good ..’
In 1932, the first  representation at the Minack Theatre was ‘The Tempest’ by William Shakespeare.
Rowena Cade is constantly dedicated to its amphitheater, over the years enlarged it, supports it, carves all the time that will last her long life, up to 80 years. Today, the theater presents a permanent exhibition about its history, in the summer has a full program of performances and provides a point of international cultural force.
